Inner Harmony: How Meditation Changed My LifeMar. 15, 2025

Meditation is a practice of coming back to yourself using different techniques to slow down, connect and clear your mind and body. It helps to release mental, emotional, and physical stress from your mind and body. There are different ways to practice meditation, including guided meditation, mindfulness, breathwork, mantra and movement. Meditation offers you the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding and awareness of your own thoughts without judgement. Benefits of meditation include reducing stress and anxiety, enhancing focus and concentration, balancing emotional well-being, releasing tension in the body, increasing self-awareness, supports letting go of control and being in the present moment. In this blog I will share how practicing meditation daily changed my life.
In 2020, there was a lot of uncertainty with covid, with that came fear and anxiety of the unknown. We all had to stay away from our friends and family, connecting with others was something we had to put on hold and that was hard. It was lonely at times and then I found something profound in that loneliness, myself. That didn't happen overnight, and it was a long journey that began with me finding the practice of meditation.
For years, I avoided meditation because I thought there's no way I can sit in stillness without being distracted or keep my mind from racing. In addition, I was under the impression you had to sit up straight, crossed legged and in a pose. For me, I used those barriers to say no thanks I don't need to try this. But, in 2020 I had the time to try meditation, so I kept an open mind and made some adjustments that were comfortable for me while taking the pressure off needing to do it perfectly or without distraction. I hope the information below can be helpful in giving you some inspiration to try meditation if you have been curious to try it.
I chose to do guided meditations because they allowed me to concentrate on what someone else was saying while keeping my own thoughts at bay. I also found it more comfortable to lay down while listening to the guided meditations and found that I could take deeper breaths that way. Breathwork is a big part of meditation that helps you relax your entire being. So, I started incorporating meditation in my daily routine every morning. I wanted to ensure that I started my day off in a calm and relaxed state, this was just my preference.
I was not expecting what happened next, I could hear the loving voice of my highest self. The part of me that wants the absolute best for myself and others. The voice that is my biggest cheerleader no matter the mistakes I have made, the challenges I have faced, the shame, grief or anger I carry from the past, the voice of unconditional love. She became stronger the more I practiced meditation and connected back to myself in stillness. It gives me time alone to prioritize myself and to see my past and feel all the feelings that come with it in a more compassionate and forgiving way. Meditation has helped me to release physical tension from my body as well as the suppressed emotions from my past while also aligning my nervous system back to harmony. It has strengthened my ability to slow down, go with the flow and surrender to the present moment. My self-awareness has improved, and I am able to respond in a more emotionally calm state in triggering situations more often because of the mindfulness I have gained from meditation. It has also strengthened my spiritual connection, I feel surrounded by peace, support and unconditional love. Meditation has changed my life in the most beautiful ways, giving me back a profound connection to myself, one that has supported me in remembering the truth of who I am with love so that I can have a safe space to heal and grow.
You can practice meditation any time of the day, whatever feels best for you. I still meditate every morning while also finding myself doing it throughout my day if I need to release stress or slow down. Even if that is taking 3 slow breaths or doing a quick 5-minute meditation. There is no wrong or right way to meditate, all that matters is that you focus on being intentional in trying to slow down and connect with your mind and body. Meditation is a great practice for self-care and prioritizing yourself. A healing modality that will transform your inner world bringing you love, harmony, and peace. I have enjoyed it so much that I have created my own meditations for my YouTube Channel. Check out my channel anytime, it's under Molly McKenzie on YouTube or www.youtube.com/@divinelyalignedhealing
