Chakras
Chakras are said to be the energy centers within our body that regulate and transform the energy flow within our body. Chakras help to bring the physical, mental and spiritual bodies together in harmony. Reiki is a holistic healing modality that can treat your chakras and help to restore balance to them. Rei is universal spiritual wisdom and Ki is life energy. Life energy flows through all of us. It flows within our physical body through pathways called chakras, meridians, and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. For this article, I am going to focus on the chakras. Ther are seven main chakras within the body. You can think of the chakras like building a house, you start with the 1st one, which is your foundation, and work your way up.
ROOT CHAKRA- This is the first chakra and it is located at the base of your spine. It is associated with the color RED. It deals with your sense of security and stability ranging from home, family, friends, money, and early parent relationships. Emotions such as feeling safe, secure and grounded can be linked to a balanced root chakra. Insecure, anxious and fear are some feelings that may arise when the root chakra is unbalanced. Affirmation: I am safe and secure in my body, and I am supported by the relationships in my life.
SACRAL CHAKRA- This is the second chakra and it is located in your lower abdomen, below the belly button. It is associated with the color ORANGE. It is the center of our emotions, feelings, creativity, pleasure and sensuality. Feeling comfortable sharing your feelings, setting boundaries, creative ideas, and experiencing pleasure in a healthy way are signs of a balanced sacral chakra. Difficulty expressing your feelings or needs, trouble setting boundaries, co-dependency, low sex drive, and anxiety can mean an imbalance of the sacral chakra. Affirmation: I express my feelings with ease, and it's safe to experience pleasure in every area of my life.
SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA-This is the third chakra and it is located at the navel (belly button area). It is associated with the color YELLOW. This area represents your willpower, ego, vitality, belief in yourself, confidence, and determination. When the solar plexus is balanced you will feel empowered, not letting things define you and you embrace yourself as a unique individual who is valuable. A blocked solar plexus may have you hesitant to try new challenges, being rigid, control issues, feeling afraid or low self-esteem. Affirmation: I am strong, I am enough and I am confident in my personal power.
HEART CHAKRA- This is your fourth chakra and it is located in the center of your chest (your heart). It is associated with the color GREEN. (I have heard pink as well) The heart chakra is the center for love, compassion, empathy and forgiveness of yourself and others. When the heart chakra is balanced there is acceptance, emotional balance, expression and a feeling of deep love for yourself and others. This is where healing of emotional pain takes place. When the heart chakra is unbalanced, there may be a sense of isolation, not empathetic, you may sacrifice too much or struggle to develop meaningful relationships. Affirmation: I love, honor and accept myself unconditionally. I forgive myself and others.
THROAT CHAKRA- This is your fifth chakra and it is located in your throat. It is associated with the color BLUE. The throat chakra rules your verbal and nonverbal communication. A balanced throat chakra allows for clear communication and expression of your thoughts and feelings, the expression of your authentic self and your values, honest communication and your ability to listen to others to understand. Things that are associated with an unbalanced throat chakra are avoiding talking about your thoughts and feelings, gossip, fear of what others think, and difficulty listening. Affirmation: I speak my truth with ease. It is safe for me to express myself without fear of judgement.
THIRD EYE CHAKRA- This is your sixth chakra and it is located in the middle of your forehead between your eyebrows. It is associated with the color INDIGO. Your third eye represents your intuition, awareness, and imagination. A balanced third eye can give you clarity with your inner truth and knowledge, self-awareness, your ability to visualize your goals and to see beyond the physical realm. It can also represent your connection to spirituality. A blocked third eye can leave you feeling disconnected, struggling to trust your inner guidance, difficulty concentrating, overthinking, negative thinking and limiting beliefs. Affirmation: I trust my intuition and receive guidance and clarity. I manifest my dreams with ease.
CROWN CHAKRA- This is your seventh chakra and it is located at the top of your head. It is associated with the color VIOLET. (I have also heard white). This is where your higher consciousness is as well as your connection to spirit, and wisdom. When your crown chakra is balanced you are open minded, your higher self is present and you are spiritually connected, there is a oneness with everything and everyone, you receive divine guidance and insights and move beyond the ego. A blocked crown may leave you feeling lost and disconnected from all things, rigid beliefs, stressed, ungrounded, confusion and lack of purpose. Affirmation: I am one with the universe, I am connected to the divine and am being divinely guided.
We store emotional, mental and physical pain within our bodies. Our bodies remember every experience we have had both good and bad, conscious and unconscious. It is important to heal ourselves so that we may release whatever we are holding within our bodies. There are many healing modalities that can be used and be even more beneficial together. Reiki is one option that can help you balance your chakras and help you restore harmony within while promoting natural healing.
